What is a Google review standee, and does my shop need one?

The short answer. A Google review standee is a small stand that sits upright on a counter, with a QR code and often an NFC chip that open your Google review page. It suits a deep counter or a till where customers stand back, because it sits at eye level where they look while they pay. Where customers lean right over the counter, a flat plate does the same job for less: ours are ₹699 for a plate and ₹799 for a standee.

What is on a Google review standee?

Three things. A QR code that opens your Google review page when a customer points their camera at it. Usually an NFC chip inside, which opens the same page when a phone is held to it. And a line or two telling the customer what to do, such as “Tap or scan to review us on Google”. The customer needs no app for either the tap or the scan, and the standee needs no battery or power.

Is “NFC review stand” the same thing?

Yes. Sellers call the same product a review standee, a review stand, a QR standee, an NFC stand or a tap stand. What matters is not the name but whether it carries both an NFC chip and a QR code, and whether both open your review box directly rather than your Maps listing.

Standee or flat plate: which should my shop get?

Choose by where your customers stand. A flat plate lies on the counter and works where people lean over it, at a café counter or a salon reception desk. A standee stands up, so it is seen from further away and at eye level, which suits a deep counter, a billing desk with a queue, or a table where people sit.

Where should a review standee go?

  • By the till, facing the customer. The moment they pay is the moment they are most likely to review, and their phone is already in their hand.
  • Within reach. An NFC chip reads from a few centimetres, so a standee behind a glass counter or out of arm’s reach can be scanned but not tapped.
  • Where it will not be covered. Not behind the card machine, the bill tray or the sweets jar.
  • On the way out, if there is a second spot. A plate by the door catches the customers who left the counter in a hurry.

What should I check before buying one?

  • It has both NFC and a QR code. Some budget phones cannot tap, and every phone with a camera can scan (see NFC or QR).
  • It opens the star box, not your Maps listing. A listing makes the customer find the review button themselves, and many give up. Test it on your own phone the day it arrives.
  • You can change where it points. A new listing after a move should not mean a new standee (see changing the link later).
  • It sends every customer to the same page. A stand that asks for a rating first and sends only happy customers to Google breaks Google’s review policy (see what Google allows).
  • It will not tip over. A light stand on a busy counter gets knocked flat and then ignored.

What does a Google review standee cost in India?

Prices vary with the material and with whether an NFC chip is inside. Our Counter Standee is ₹799, paid once, with free delivery anywhere in India and nothing monthly. On the Pro plan the stand is the same price, and Pro adds ₹99 a month for the care around it. The full picture is in the price guide.

What is the Tap2Review standee like?

120 × 140 mm, sturdy PVC on a weighted base, with an NFC chip inside and a printed QR code beside the place to tap. It is programmed to your Google review page before it ships, both the tap and the scan go through a link you change yourself, free, and your dashboard counts the taps and scans.
