Your name, shop and phone number
Remembered on this phone so you only type them once. The phone number only goes into replies to 3 stars or fewer, so an unhappy customer can reach you.
Why reply at all?
The next customer reads your replies as well as the reviews. A shop that answers everybody looks like one where somebody is paying attention, and a calm answer under a bad review often does more for you than the good reviews around it. Google also counts replies when it decides which shops to show first.
Replying to a good review
- Reply within a day or two, while they still remember the visit.
- Mention one real thing: what they ordered, who served them. It is the difference between a reply and a form letter.
- Keep it short. Two or three sentences is plenty.
Replying to a bad review
- Wait until you are calm. Nobody has ever won an argument in a review reply.
- Say sorry for their experience, even if you think they are wrong.
- Give them a way to reach you directly, and sort it out there, not in public.
- Never share anything about them they didn’t write themselves: their bill, their order, when they came in.
What not to put in a reply
Don’t offer a discount or a freebie, and don’t ask them to change their rating. Both read as paying for reviews, which is against Google’s rules and can get reviews removed from your listing. If you want to make it up to somebody, do it in person.
Is anything I paste saved?
No. The draft is made on your phone, and the review never leaves it. Only your own name, shop name and phone number are remembered, on this phone, so you don’t have to type them every time.
